Before I begin, I would like to note that you can find almost all of the organizing products that I use in my refrigerator by clicking on the shop tab in the menu bar above, or by viewing the link that I will include at the end of this post.
I always try to begin the week with a stocked fridge. Anyone else?? I think it helps to start the week off on the right foot. There is nothing minimal about my fridge and pantry. I like to make sure they are fully stocked, so I can keep that task on the back burner for a while, and focus my energy elsewhere. The goal is one trip to the grocery store per week, that’s it.
After using your fridge for awhile, you probably have an idea about how you can maximize the space based on your fridge design and the groceries you buy. Develop a layout and use the exact same layout every single day. This will:
1️⃣ Make it easy to see exactly what you have a hand, reducing food waste.👌🏻
2️⃣ Make it easy to put your groceries away since you’ll know exactly where something should go. 👏🏻
3️⃣ Allow your fridge to stay organized without any extra effort since systems will already be in place.
I love the clear bins that I use to help keep my fridge organized, but I love the acrylic turntables even more. I have 3, one for yogurt, and two for smaller condiments and such. On the top shelf, I keep the turntables in the back so I have room to store things in front of them. There isn’t any digging or shuffling things around to reach something. Just spin the table and help yourself. I can easily push the yogurt turntable to the back if I need extra room for leftovers. This system has been a game changer. And the added bonus? I can easily see when I’m running low on something since everything has a set space.
Label your meal prep containers and the containers that you use for leftovers with the day/date using an actual label (mine have stayed on after running them through the dishwasher) or a wine glass marker which can easily be removed with warm, soapy water. 👌🏻 This will help you keep track of your food, so you can eat things before they expire. I can tell myself I will remember something, and be 100% positive that I will, but the truth is, I never remember anything unless I write it down.
Use acrylic trays to keep the pantry drawer in your refrigerator neat and organized.
File items in your freezer so that you can see everything you have on hand with a quick glance.
When we moved into our home, one of the things on my husband’s wish list was a separate fridge strictly for beverages. We bought an inexpensive fridge that we keep in our garage and it works out great. I love having extra space in our main fridge and it’s also nice to have the ability to easily grab something as I head out the door.
