Garage Organization

{Tip} Take a few seconds a day to spruce up your garage entry way. This space can easily become a catch-all for all sorts of things, but if you dedicate a few minutes a week to it, it will never really get that bad.

Since this is the first thing I see when I pull into my garage, I like to make sure it looks neat and clutter-free, so I feel like I’m entering my home in a good mindset.

Can tools be pretty? I didn’t think so….until now. Phase 3 of our garage refresh came in hot, thanks to my hubby who built this custom pegboard and workbench. I asked him to frame the pegboard for a more finished look, and we both love how it turned out. I never thought looking at tools could make my heart skip a beat!

Shortly after we moved into our home, my husband installed a @gladiatorbrand track system. I think this is a perfect storage solution for a family with growing children, because the placement of the hooks are not permanent. They can be moved around (or swapped out) on the track to fit different needs as the kids get older. Right now, we have a mesh basket that we store all of our large balls in 🏈🏀⚽️, but I’ve been eyeing the ball caddy, so that might change soon. All of our baseballs ⚾️ are stored in a 5-gallon bucket, so we can easily transport them to baseball practice. Depending on which season we are in, each of my kids have a bag (or 2) that are filled with their game-time essentials. And of course, we can’t forget the wagon for little sis, or the chairs for all of the sports fans.

This old wardrobe cabinet in our garage is where we keep all of our sports equipment. The cabinet, plus every single bin and basket are items that I repurposed. When I was simplifying my home, I kept a few bins that were in great condition because I knew I could get use out of them in some other way. If you are getting ready to organize a space, shop your home first to see if you have items that you can use and create matching labels for a cohesive look.

I replaced some old, mismatched bins (and added a few extra) with some 18 gallon white storage bins that I found at @thecontainerstore. (And yes, it was very hard to contain myself while I was there. 😉) I found the self-adhesive letter stickers at @michaelsstores in the scrapbook section. I used the stickers to clearly label each bin, so no more playing “the guessing game” of where to put something. FYI: The adhesive was not strong enough to stick to the bins, especially with Michigan’s fluctuating temperatures, but I was able to overcome this small hurdle by placing packing tape over the words once I was finished. So far, so good. I love that everything finally flows and that I can easily stack the containers since they are all the same.

When we moved into our home, one of the things on my husband’s wish list was a separate fridge strictly for beverages. We bought an inexpensive fridge that we keep in our garage and it works out great. I love having extra space in our main fridge, and it’s also nice to have the ability to easily grab something as I head out the door.
